Apparently the demand for a proper Banjo-Kazooie threequel has been greatly underestimated. Although the Kickstarter for spiritual successor Yooka-Laylee launched just hours ago, it has already hit over $1,000,000 in pledges — $1.1 million in fact.
While this is undeniably staggering, what’s even more shocking is that it’s the most successful start for a video game related Kickstarter ever. The record was previously held by Tormer: Tides of Numenera, which hit the mark in seven hours.
It took Yooka-Laylee just six.
With the rate of pledges not slowing down, Yooka-Laylee has a good chance of becoming one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns ever.
Head over here to check out the Kickstarter yourself (although you likely already have).
No link to the actual kickstarter? Disappointing
The lower case “here” in the last sentence of the article, the one that begins with “Head over here” contains the link to the actual Kickstarter.
They must have added that after I commented about it 🙂
Well earned! People seem pretty excited about 3D Platformers again, though even against some newer indie efforts like A Hat in Time or The Last Tinker in terms of indie teams, this is amazing! Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving group, though!
Rare, if they are indeed bringing Banjo-Kazooie 4 to E3, have A LOT TO PROVE. It’s clear that people are already looking to Playtonic for that kind of feel – the Facebook page for Playtonic has over twice as many fans as Rare’s 🙂
Meanwhile, Playtonic has already made a lot of people happy; just knowing that these guys are back together making amazing, fun, charming games with great Grant Kirkhope tunes is super exciting!
Banjo 4, yeah right…
