Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Considering the game has remained in our collective psyche, it's hard to believe it's been over six years since we last had a proper Metal Gear Solid. Of course, it's not as if Kojima has been silent during this period. It seems like he's been teasing MGSIV's follow-up nonstop the past two years, with March giving birth to Ground Zeroes, a prequel to The Phantom Pain that gave us a taste of what's to come. E3 2014, however, was the biggest statement yet for the game. Not only was there an intriguing and visually stunning extended trailer released, but Konami treated us to gameplay demos showing off the game live in action for the first time. Suffice it to say, we were impressed; stunned, really. This is the Metal Gear we know and love, enhanced with the help of current-gen graphics, inventive gameplay elements from Peace Walker and innovative new mechanics we've never seen before. Out of all the games we witnessed at this year's E3, Metal Gear Solid V was the one we wanted to experience most; and at the end of the day, that's what counts.
