With Yo-Kai Watch being such a massive hit in North America and already a booming franchise in Japan, it only makes sense for Level-5 to bring the sequel to E3. This time, there are two versions of the game to decide on, Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits and Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls. It may seem like a tough decision but fans will easily and eagerly pick up either, or both!

Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls contain more than 350 Yo-Kai to meet and befriend, almost 100 more than the previous iteration. The story still takes place in Springdale but a lot of that depends on when. In the sequel, you will have the ability to travel backwards in time. Nate travels 60 years into the past to an older version of Springdale where he will meet his own grandfather, learn about the origins of the Yo-Kai Watch, and discover "classic" Yo-Kai which are modeled after mythological Japanese folktales.

In order to gain this time traveling ability, you must first defeat a Yo-Kai who happened to be friends with Nate's grandfather. He will then transport you to the past where you will search for another Yo-Kai, similar to Mirapo, which can move you through time and space. Because of this, the world has been expanded while still featuring many of the same locations found in the first game. Some of them were actually modeled after real places which Level-5 implemented many aspects into the video game version. Since it is larger than before, there have been added mini-games and activities around the town to make it worthwhile.

Battling Yo-Kai has not changed a whole lot. There are still foods to give, spots to target, and actions to take. You will find different ways of freeing your team from being inspirited as well as new techniques to perform Soultimate moves. The bottom screen has been aesthetically changed giving each button equal space on the touch pad. There has been a new mode added to the games as well. Join friends in a local co-op mode to travel around town and defeat enemies. This gets you working as a team to fight toward a common goal. The Yo-Kai class you choose affects gameplay as well. Depending on which kind of Yo-Kai you choose will give you a certain role like healer and brawler similar to other RPG titles.

Creating Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls gives players a chance to communicate with one another and switch Yo-Kai between the two versions. With all kinds of new ways to play and friends to make Yo-Kai Watch 2 will certainly posses even more fans. Plus, it's pretty cute watch Jibanyan follow you around. You can expect a lot more from the games too with the release of a new Yo-Kai Watch toy based on the original version found in the game. Check out both version as they arrive in North America on September 30 for the 3DS. You can even pre-order them now from GameStop and Amazon. You even get a new Yo-Kai friend if you have data from the first game to connect with the new one. There is just so much more to these sequels and Yo-Kai is why!
