After showcasing a new story trailer for the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite fighting game, Capcom announced that a demo was available for the story. The demo gives a very good grasp of what the game will feel like when it's released. While Marvel vs. Capcom 3 had a loose story to how the universes collided (this was in a comic book with the premium edition of the game), the game lacked a story mode. With Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, the way the characters work together, it feels like a true team and something you would read in a Marvel story.

One of the best ways to tie these two universes together is with a common enemy. While Thanos will play a major part of the story, the main antagonist is Ultron-Sigma. Ultron has long been a villain of the Avengers in the Marvel Universe, as he is mainly an A.I. that was created by Henry Pimm in the comics. He was featured as the antagonist in the second Avengers movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With his voice portrayed by James Spader, Ultron was a bit underwhelming as an enemy in that second movie. That certainly does not seem to be the case in Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite.

Of course, it's not just Ultron. Sigma is the main antagonist of the Megaman X series. Both are extremely evil entities and have been molded into one being. The design behind the enemy looks great. In the demo, you fight off individual Ultrons as well as Asguardians that have been taken over by Ultron-Sigma. The final fight concludes with going toe-to-toe with the relentless being, and it isn't winable, nor is it supposed to be.

The art design looks beautiful in Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite as it feels like a comic book coming to life. The colors are deep and the lighting brings out the environments quite well. Players fight two at a time as getting a taste of each hero is important. In terms of actual fighting, there is an auto combo by pressing square three times. Special moves and Super moves are fairly easy to play off. At times, the enemy creates distance and seems to affect the flow. The combat seems a bit slower than the previous games, but again, this is just a demo. It does seem to cater to a more casual player.

Thanks to games such as Mortal Kombat, Injustice and now Tekken, story modes seem to be taking over in fighting games as it is an aspect that can be played off. The demo is free and available now for download. There are pre-order bonuses available with costumes for the standard and deluxe edition, and six additional DLC characters with the deluxe edition. This version will retail for $89.99 and one of the characters will be Sigma. While the game focuses on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and lacks series mainstays such as Wolverine and Magneto, a well told story could possibly make up for the lack of their inclusion.
