Turtle Beach is one of the more recognized names when it comes to high end gaming headsets, and not without good reason as they are regarded by many as one the better brands available for gaming headsets. Turtle Beach has a few new models they are going to release later this year, and a couple we can share with everyone now are the Stealth models that are scheduled for release in early September: the Stealth 600 and Stealth 700. Both models will be wireless surround sound models, and while both are being touted as higher end, the 700 will have a couple extra premium features. There will be two separate versions, one for the PlayStation 4 and one for the Xbox One.

The Stealth 600 model will have a suggested retail price of $99.95. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One models are going to be equivalent to each other on their respective systems but there are few variations between them. Both models will include glasses friendly comfort thanks to the ProSpecs comfort driven design to remove pressure on glasses while using the headset. Powerful 50 mm speakers worn over the ear will produce crisp highs and thunderous lows, and the renowned high sensitivity mic will allow for clear in game communication that can be muted by simply flipping it up. Superhuman Hearing will give players an edge in competitive games as it will raise the quiet sounds of a sneaking enemy to an audible level, making it near impossible for anyone to get the jump on you. Audio presets with bass boost are included so the optimal sound mix can be selected, and with 15 hour battery life gaming sessions never have to be cut short. The chat and game volumes can be separately adjusted, and the mic monitoring will allow the player to hear their own speech and adjust it so they never have to shout.

Both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are wireless, but the Xbox version is completely disconnected and finds the Xbox One or Windows 10 devices by using the sync button just like a controller, while the PlayStation version relies on a USB transmitter. Surround sound is featured in both, but the PlayStation headset has Virtual Surround Sound compared to the Windows Sonic Surround Sound.  Essentially, there are a few technical differences between the two console versions but they end up behaving pretty much the same.

The Stealth 700 model is the premium version of this generation of Turtle Beach surround sound wireless headsets. These have a suggested retail price of $149.95, and are essentially the Stealth 600 with some bells and whistles added to the features included on the Stealth 600. Active noise cancellation is included in this model to drown out distractions and make the gaming experience more immersive, and Bluetooth connectivity has been incorporated so the player is free to switch audio settings or take calls or stream music while gaming. Dynamic Chat Boost is a feature that automatically increases chat volume over the game so no communication is lost during those crucial moments when a really loud explosion happens to get in the way of a planning session. The Xbox model is staying loyal to Windows Sonic Surround Sound while the PlayStation model is upgrading to the DTS Headphones: X Surround Sound Technology for fully immersive 7.1 surround sound, with this DTS Surround Sound carrying over into the different audio presets. Again, the differences in some features between models is based on the different architecture of the consoles and not due to the headsets being deliberately different in design from each other.

The Stealth 600 and Stealth 700 headsets are scheduled for release this September. Turtle Beach has built a strong reputation for themselves over the years as being a quality brand for gaming headsets so even though it's too early to give an evaluation on the quality of these units, those of us that are in the market for a new headset in this price range can feel optimistic that they will have some good new choices this fall.
