Midgar Studio and Playdius have announced that their upcoming JRPG adventure Edge of Eternity will begin its journey through Steam Early Access today after a successful Kickstarter campaign. Alongside the Early Access launch is a new trailer that details some of the gameplay possibilities. Early Access will come with free updates to the game as developers keep tweaking the title for a full launch on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The team at Midgar Studio wish to keep the community involved at all stages of the process and are hopeful about utilizing player feedback, "As a small indie team of 9 people, making an epic JRPG adventure is a huge, and work-intensive task. We believe that the labor done so far and its results are already quite an achievement, but we’re still a long way away from getting the game to where we want it to be. Following on from our successful Kickstarter campaign, launching Edge of Eternity into Early Access allows us to further involve our community through the development” said Jeremy Zeler, founder of Midgar Studio.

While Edge of Eternity is still very much in the development phase, it promises sprawling environments with tactical turn based battles and deep player choice. Very reminiscent of the Final Fantasy series and utilizing the same composer from the Chrono Trigger and Xenoblade series, it appears Edge of Eternity is an homage to JRPG titans with its own unique flavor.
