Recently, developers Avalanche Studios teased the reveal of a new IP from them over Twitter, one that would be self-published. Having made a name for themselves with the likes of the Just Cause series and the upcoming Rage 2, releasing their own creation now is a huge accomplishment, and today we finally had that creation revealed to us in the form of Generation Zero, a multiplayer FPS for up to four players. You can check out the announcement trailer below, composed entirely of in-game footage, which gives players an initial feel for things.

Set in Sweden during the 1980s (in case the music wasn't enough of a hint), the game sees you playing as a group of teenagers/young adults how have to fend off the countryside from a swarm of hostile, invading machines. Basically, think Red Dawn meets Horizon: Zero Dawn (or Horizon: Red Dawn, if you will). Details are still a bit sparse, though open world gameplay appears to be promised, along with permanent damage that lingers on enemies, even if you encounter them days later in the wild. It certainly looks like a promising start for a fresh new IP, and we'll see how Generation Zero develops until its eventual 2019 release for PC, PS4, and XB1.
