Bank Limit: Advanced Battle Racing Announced as Oculus Rift Launch Title

If there’s one thing VR could always use more of, it’s futuristic racing titles along the lines of Wipeout. That’s exactly what developer Tastee Beverage Studios will be doing with their VR racing combat game, Bank Limit: Advanced Battle Racing.

Launching on March 28 as a Oculus Rift launch title, the combat magnet racer features drifting, drafting and head-controlled weaponry on gravity-defying tracks. In development for over two years,  Bank Limit: ABR puts players in futuristic race cars that can hit speeds in excess of Mach 1 while dealing punishment to opponents via head-aimed lasers and missiles. Vehicles and weapon firing are controlled with a gamepad, but players can look in any direction at any time for an intuitive driving experience — look up to navigate a loop-the-loop, left and right to monitor opponents or set up upcoming turns, or down to glance at status via in-car gauges. When looking inside the cockpit, players can see the articulated body of their avatar reacting to immense G-forces as it controls the steering wheel, adding to the realism and sensation of speed.

It’s not easy to win, but AI competitors are balanced with the player’s skill level via performance metrics that are tracked in real time to ensure that every race is a fight to the end. The game will include single player and multiplayer modes, over 15 tracks set in three different worlds, up to 24 cars on the track at once and a selection of vehicles and upgrades.
