It wouldn't be a year of video game releases without a major Destiny expansion, and thanks to a recent leak and eventual reveal from Bungie and Activision, we now know a bit more about the newest addition to the insanely popular loot shooter.

Today, Bungie and Activision have officially revealed Destiny: Rise of Iron, which is currently set to launch on September 20 of this year. Aside from the fact that this casts doubt upon the rumored 2016 release of Destiny 2, which now seems to be a likely 2017 affair. Rise of Iron will include a new location set on Earth, a new six-player raid and a whole host of new weapons and armor to unlock along the way. It's important to note that Destiny: The Taken King is required to be able to play Rise of Iron, so if you are still rocking vanilla Destiny, you're going to be out of luck here.

In honor of the announcement, Bungie has released an official reveal trailer, which can be seen below.
