During the Monster Hunter Direct, Capcom announced the latest entry to the series as Monster Hunter Double Cross, or Monster Hunter XX. Double Cross is a sequel to Monster Hunter X and adds G-rank to the game as well as a handful of monsters revealed during the direct. Two monsters returning to the franchise are the third generation's Barioth and Barroth, as well as a new deviant species for Diablos. There was one completely new monster was revealed during the direct whose Japanese name is Barufaruku and is themed after a jet.

The Direct showed off two new available hunter styles, one called Brave style and a second style that was simply revealed as a hunter shaking a barrel and receiving some kind of mysterious benefits. In addition to hunters getting two new hunting styles, the felyne Prowlers will gain the ability to use both Aerial and Adept hunting styles in battle, making Prowlers even more versatile in battle. Anyone who buys a copy of Double Cross will also be able to transfer their characters from Monster Hunter X if they have a copy and start the game with their already obtained gear.
