Codemasters has reintroduced classic cars to its F1 racing series and they are cranking up the amount this year. Announced a few weeks ago, F1 2018 is already getting the 2009 Brawn GBP 001 that was driven by Jenson Button and the 2003 Williams FW25 driven by Juan Pablo Montoya. Now, the game is adding six truly vintage racers to the game. Ranging from what is arguably the peak era of Formula One racing, the 1970s saw speed and tragedy for the sport. Players will get to choose from the 1972 Lotus 72, driven by Emerson Fittipaldi, and 1978 Lotus 79, driven by Mario Andretti. Both of those cars are championship winners.

If you are familiar with the movie Rush, it focused on the championship battle between James Hunt and Nikki Lauda in 1976. Both the McLaren M23 and Ferrari 312T2 will also be present in the game. The last two are the 1979 Ferrari 312 T4 and 1982 McLaren MP4/1B. “We are delighted to bring 20 classic cars to F1 2018,” commented Lee Mather, Game Director, F1 2018. “The classics were extremely popular in last year’s game so we naturally wanted to offer our players even more choice this time. The 70s and 80s cars offer a whole new challenge and compared to the modern day cars. They look and sound incredible.”

Most importantly, F1 2018 will include last year's classic cars as well. This brings the total number to 20. This certainly adds a good bit of depth to the game thanks to that variety. F1 2018 will include all the teams, drivers and circuits from the 2018 F1 season. This includes Circuit Paul Ricard and the returning Hockenheimring. F1 2018 will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam on August 24. Check out the trailer below for the reveal.
