Devolver Digital and Canadian developers Sabotage have already been receiving more than a fair share of acclaim and awards for The Messenger, their upcoming Ninja Gaiden/metroidvania mixture with a generation-hopping twist. And if you want to see what all of the fuss is about, then look no further, because a new video chock full of gameplay footage was released, fresh from the game's latest showing at the Media Indie Exchange event at E3 2018.

As seen below, the clip not only showcases the intro and tutorial that sets up the story, but also a wide variety of skills to use across several colorful stages, a hefty amount of challenge, a bit of a boss battle, and of course, the signature sections where the game swaps from 8-bit to 16-bit gameplay through mysterious portals. No release date has been announced yet for The Messenger, but it's said to be coming soon for both PC and Switch, so keep your eyes peeled.
