The indie reverse vertical shooter Downwell is heading onto PlayStation devices later this month. Developed by Moppin, Downwell sees a boy falling into a hole full of monsters and traps. Fortunately, he's got Gunboots - a set of boots which are also guns. Firing from the boots allows the player to kill what's in their way, as well as slow their descent. The game contains roguelike elements, but surviving unlocks player-selected abilities at the end of each level. Fans of difficult vertical shooter games will not be disappointed with Downwell. We enjoyed it quite a bit.

Take a look at some gameplay below. Downwell is headed to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, with cross-buy support, on May 24.
