Namco Bandai Games announced today that the first new DBZ game in two years, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, will be released on January 28, 2014 in North America for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PS Vita (digital only). Although perhaps the most creative name, Battle of Z features expansive environments in which to wreck havoc and utilize the character control features with up to seventy characters to issue team orders to attack, defend or heal other team members. Also included is eight player online multiplayer -- a series first.

Check out the launch announcement trailer below, which clocks in at over three minutes and does a fine job explaining all of the features of the game. Visually, it looks very crisp, featuring some great anime cutscenes and kinetic in-game action. A Day One Edition will include a bonus download code for Goku's Naruto Uzumaki Sage Mode Costume.
