Dragon Quest Celebrates Turning 35 with New Game Announcements

Dragon Quest, one of the most influential and successful JRPG franchises, is celebrating its 35th birthday today. In celebration of this milestone birthday Square Enix announced three new titles that are in early stages of development that will have the same global release date, which are Dragon Quest XII, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake and Dragon Quest Treasures. In addition to these titles, a mobile puzzle game with the working title Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi (final name TBD) was announced during the livestream, which has been archived for viewing here.

Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi is a free-to-play mobile game for Android and iOS that features characters and monsters from Dragon Quest games to erase graffiti. The teaser trailers for the other three aforementioned games can be viewed below.

Dragon Quest XII is probably the most-anticipated reveal and something for fans to get excited about. This is the next mainline entry in the Dragon Quest franchise.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is an updated remake of Dragon Quest III. This remake promises to provide a 3D feel by adding 3D effects to pixel backgrounds. This intriguing new remake is planned for console release.

Dragon Quest Treasures is a spinoff taking place during the childhood of Eric and Mia before the adventures of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. The two friends will embark on a treasure hunting RPG adventure in another world.

Players of the mobile game Dragon Quest Tact will have access to a limited time quest until June 6 that has a reward of 1000 gems. Players who log in before June 6 will also receive 3500 gems, and players who log in before June 10 will receive ten SP Scout tickets that they can use one some limited time special banners that can unlock some classic boss monsters such as Baramos, Zoma and the Dragonlord.

Lastly, to help spread celebratory to joy to the fans numerous Dragon Quest games will be on sale across various platforms between now and June 9:
