With the age of downloadable content, there has been a serious lack of large-scale expansion packs. Even games such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is relying more on smaller downloadable pieces compared to their past. While Capcom has received a lot of heat for day-one and on-disc DLC, the company is looking to redeem themselves with Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen. Capcom has announced that this will be a "major expansion" into the Dragon's Dogma universe and scheduled for a 2013 launch for both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

No specific details on what the expansion pack entails, or a price point, but along side this announcement comes new modes that will be offered completely free by the end of the year. This will include a Hard mode and Speedrun mode. Hard mode is just as it sounds, jacking up the difficulty on enemies and giving you better loot, while speedrun will clock how fast you can clear a game while awarding you adequately with new equipment. Considering how enjoyable Dragon's Dogma was, it's not a bad thing that we'll get an expansion onto an already massive world.
