The deal -- not to mention the damage control -- seems to be getting worse for those who happened to purchase Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and were, rightly, frustrated by the system of microtransactions the game originally had which veered more towards a pay-to-win ecosystem. But this time, the focus seems to be on the presence of cosmetic skins. But not just its implementation, but the fact that items such as this are even there in the first place, despite previous claims the company had made.

Given EA's Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen had declared, during the recent Credit Suisse Annual Technology, Media and Telecom conference, that they were apprehensive about including cosmetic skins out of respect for the canon of the mainline movies, it appears -- if a recent data-mining and subsequent video, which you can view below, is anything to go by -- EA weren't telling the whole truth when they made that statement. As discovered by a user by the name of Uninspired Zebra, Star Wars Battlefront 2 looks to be including an option to customise the look of your character -- if the all-caps "SKIN" section is any indicator, as well as the ample choices players have for factions such as the Galactic Republic or Rebel Alliance, for example.

An additional gallery of imgur files backs this up, though for the moment, there's no sign of any ridiculously over-the-top or lore-breaking skins like, for example, a pink Darth Vader or one coated with diamonds. EA have of course previously stated that microtransactions aren't gone for good and would be making a return in some shape or form at a later date, so could this be the manner in which they'll (stealthily or otheriwse) bring them back into the fold? The company has already taken a slight knock financially due to the negative feedback from the use of loot boxes in Battlefront 2, but given the previous, public statement of not wanting to feature cosmetic skins, just how far are EA willing to test consumer's patience and trust (if there's any left)? You can see the brief overview of the potential customisation menu below, before it's inevitably taken down by EA and/or DICE that is.
