Fear Effect Sedna Begins Its Kickstarter Campaign

Last week, it was announced that French developers Sushee would be reviving the long-dormant Fear Effect franchise with the help of Square Enix Collective, planning to launch a Kickstarter campaign the following week for a new game. And lo and behold, Fear Effect Sedna is now up on Kickstarter, seeking a €100,000 goal to help get the isometric real-time tactical strategy game the funding it needs.

Taking place four years after the first game, Fear Effect Sedna will see our four main heroes (plus newcomer Axel, a French secret agent) traveling up north where they’ll end up facing Inuit legends and folklore. The campaign page also goes into detail about what the characters have been up to, how the switch to isometric team-based gameplay will work and why they went this route, how the titular Fear Effect will be utilized, and more, including GIFs of the gameplay in action. In addition, a new teaser has been released for the game, which you can view below.

As a huge fan of the first two games, I am extremely excited to see Fear Effect make a comeback, and Sushee seems to be doing a terrific job so far in taking this universe in a bold new direction while still remaining true to the original titles and their action-adventure roots. It already looks to be an amazing revival, and I can’t wait to see more of Fear Effect Sedna in the future. Now here’s hoping we can get a Gex comeback later as well…
