The next installment into Final Fantasy XIV will be coming out sometime in early 2018, and we already have some details around what will be included. Square Enix has announced patch 4.2, titled Rise of a New Sun, will not only feature an extension on the existing story - which will go back to Doma, but various new additions, as well:

  • New Main Scenario and Side Quests
  • New Raid Dungeon (Omega: Sigmascape / Sigmascape Savage)
  • The Forbidden Land of Eureka
  • Glamour System Updates
  • The Feast PvP Updates
  • Housing Updates
  • New high-level trial, featuring Byakko, one of the Four Lords
  • New Dungeons (Hells' Lid and The Fractal Continuum Hard)
  • A New Duty Recorder Feature
  • Updates to bard’s performance actions, additional inventory through the use of a new companion storage feature, and more.

In addition, Hildibrand's story will continue along with a number of adjustments to PVP and some of the Jobs that will hopefully balance things a bit better. Square Enix also detailed a number of the changes in their standard Letter from the Producer LIVE stream that went on early this morning.
