The Halo 5 Battle of Shadow and Light Update details have just been released and it is seriously stacked. The update features 48 unique new REQ packs, a new ninja themed Spartan armor set and the Big Team Battle playlist.

The Big Team Battle will be an exciting new game mode that will be 8-vs-8 with custom made maps just for this particular game mode. These new maps were created by 343 with help from the Forge community; their designs are directly influenced by the multiplayer maps of previous Halo games. The collaboration of 343 and the Forge community will be offering players a series of maps that focus on vehicle utilization.

Along with the new maps, there will be a series of new weapon and vehicle skins added via the REQ packs. There has also been an addition of some new chest and helmet pieces, as well as some new emblems players can add to their armor and profile. The main feature of these armor sets is the new Shinobi set that ironically looks more samurai than ninja. They've further added a new assassination animation called "Shove It".

The best part about this whole update is that the whole pack is completely free. In the past Halo would release DLC map packs that would sometimes leave players unable to play with their friends who hadn't purchased said DLC. Despite their infuriating decision to leave split-screen co-op out of the game, this is a welcome breath of fresh air that deserves some praise.  343's decision to keep this update free not leaving anyone out in the cold, definitely shows that they are putting the needs of the community first.

There's also a pretty silly video featuring the Tundra skinned Mantis, check it out below:
