On the eve of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition owners gaining early access to the Gears of War 4 beta, developer The Coalition has released a new video containing some useful tips and tricks to help improve a player’s overall performance in the online multiplayer.

Titled ‘Beta Tutorials Episode 1: The Basics,’ the video has running commentary provided by Prince Arrington, QA director at The Coalition, who not only touches upon the basics that Gears of War 4 players should quickly become accustomed to, but also some of the more advanced techniques for gaining an upper hand in a competitive match.

From utilizing Gears of War’s cover-based shooting and an emphasis on teamwork with spotting enemies to talking about new features like Close Cover Combat and Competitive Active Reload, The Coalition’s must-watch Gears of War 4 video is exactly needed for both newcomers and veterans of the series.

The full video, which is less than six minutes long, can be viewed below:

Further installments in the Gears of War 4 ‘Beta Tutorials’ will presumably be released in a steady flux over the course of the beta.

All Xbox Live Gold members will be able to participate in the Gears of War 4 beta from April 24, according to The Coalition, with the beta finally coming to an end on May 1.

Earlier this week, The Coalition revealed on Twitter that players who reach level twenty in the Gears of War 4 beta would unlock bonus items that carry over to the main game when it’s released later this year.

The beta-exclusive rewards include 'vintage' skins for new character Kait Diaz and two trademark COG weapons -- the Lancer Assault Rifle and Snub Pistol -- as well as a vintage Kait emblem and a 'unique' bounty card that offers double XP for one match.
