Radio edits have always been a double edge sword. On one hand they are a great way to maximize the number of songs a DJ can play while not alienating listeners with short attention spans, but on the other many epic songs have been hacked into mangled fragments of their former glory. Rock Band knows that people love to do drawn out impov sessions on plastic instruments and understand the importance of wanktastic extended guitar and drum solos, and so it is only fitting that when announced they are bringing Iron Butterfly’s classic In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida to Rock Band as DLC.
It will be the 17:05 uncut version and not the 2:52 radio edit. The single song will be priced at $2.99, which may seem expensive for a single Rock Band track, but due to the song’s length you’re paying approximately $0.18 per minute, which is a pretty good value for some classic rock and or roll.
