With only hours remaining, ambitious space simulator Infinity: Battlescape has successfully reached its Kickstarter goal.
Being developed by I-Novae Studios, a small independent game studio, Infinity: Battlescape already has a working prototype. An incredibly ambitious title, the team whose members boast an impressive CV and hail from multiple continents, have developed an in-house engine specifically for Infinity: Battlescape. Utilizing this engine, dubbed the I-Novae Engine, the game boasts the ability to deliver a multitude of impressive mechanics. I-Novae have made ambitious claims of no loading screens (except upon launch), seamless transitioning between surface and space, as well as hundreds of players participating in battles that span planets.
The game itself is described as a “multiplayer space sim spanning a single true to scale star system filled with dozens of planets and moons.” Games will be played in ‘matches’ during which players will form teams and collect materials. Pooling resources, each team will aim for the eventual destruction of the other teams using a mixture of spacecraft ranging from small fighters, to much larger cruisers and carriers.
Having reached its goal earlier today, it will be interesting to see what comes of this incredibly ambitious project. With a passionate development team (that has reportedly already worked thousands of hours for free), the sky is the limit. Either way, Hardcore Gamer will keep you posted.
The Kickstarter ends in a matter of hours, but the game still has time to reach and possibly surpass its stretch goals. Check it out here!
Infinity: Battlescape will be released on PC. It has a estimated release date of September 2017.
