Call of Duty: Ghosts is less than a month away from release (at least on current-generation platforms), and still Infinity Ward is holding back on showing all of their revelatory enhancements. Their next innovation is Clans, giving you the ability to team up with your friends around the world and gain unique experience points.

Joining a clan isn't just some random feature thrown in to link friends, but a brand new experience that will immerse you within the Call of Duty system. Here you can unlock exclusive items and additional bonuses, along with managing a team of individuals so they are better fitted for battle. Like most upcoming games, Call of Duty is implementing social features that (hopefully) will strengthen your enjoyment. This includes using your tablet in Clan Wars where you can manage your clan's progress in securing locations on a map. An interesting idea that really reminds us of Planetside 2, but on a much lower scale.

Playing the game on the PlayStation 4 yet your friends are on the Xbox One? Well no problem as clans are not tied to one specific platform, but are instead linked through your Call of Duty ID. Unfortunately, I don't think you'll be able to play with your clan members unless you have the same version, though. Call of Duty: Ghosts will be out November 5 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC, with next-generation counterparts coming later in the month, but if you want to get an early jump on creating your clan, registrations will be open on October 25.
