2019's equally-entertaining, equally-gripping spin-off in the Yakuza universe -- in the form of self-styled "courtroom drama" Judgment -- is getting itself a sequel. Unveiled earlier today during a "Judgment Day" livestream, Sega and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku made it official, following an earlier leak of the Japanese PlayStation store, which seemed to all-but-confirm the name and indeed the existence of the game. Takayuki Yagami, the main protagonist of the first game, returns for the sequel with what the game bills as a "story of revenge [leading] to a fabric of conspiracies in which various factions want to take advantage of the broken legal system".

Lost Judgment will also find the original 2019's base expanded, as the sequel finds both its characters and story led into Yokohama -- the same setting and locale which featured prominently in last year's brilliant Yakuza: Like a Dragon. But it's not just a re-tooling of last year's setting, as it would appear new locations -- specifically a high school -- have been added to the district for players to explore. And while it may now be its own stand-alone series away from the mainline Yakuza entries, Lost Judgment wasn't shy of throwing up a couple of neat additions alongside its main narrative, including the ability to freely skateboard around the city, as well as a tease of some of the additional mini-games and side stories. Lost Judgment releases across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One on September 24.
