Metal Gear Solid series creator Hideo Kojima has released today the launch trailer for the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

The launch trailer, which can be viewed below, has been directed and edited by Hideo Kojima, with it combining the long, distinguished history of the franchise with some new footage from The Phantom Pain.

Kojima has selected “Quiet's Theme,” a song from The Phantom Pain’s official soundtrack, to accompany the launch trailer, with the track being performed by none other than the voice of Quiet herself, Stefanie Joosten.

“The final trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is here!” Joosten wrote on her official Facebook page. “Edited by Hideo Kojima himself. Truly a beautiful tribute to the history of the Metal Gear Solid series.

“So honoured to be part of the final chapter in this legendary series! Only one week left now until the game is released. I hope all of you are as excited as I am!”

The Phantom Pain’s launch trailer is also Kojima’s final trailer for his long-running franchise, as the Japanese developer confirmed earlier this year that he would not be developing another Metal Gear Solid title after Metal Gear Solid V's release.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will launch worldwide on September 1 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
