Koei-Tecmo of America has today confirmed that Nelke & The Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the New World will indeed be getting a western release, and Atelier fans can expect to see it on PlayStation 4, PC and Nintendo Switch sometime this winter. This is one that series fans might want to watch, as it's seems to be taking a slight departure from series tradition.

Nelke and the Legendary Alchemists follows Nelke von Lestamm a young woman whose skills are not in alchemy but in governance. She's tasked by her father to raise up the quiet village of Westwald into a prosperous city. In order to do that and achieve her dream of finding the legendary Granzweit Tree, she'll need to enlist the aid of many alchemists, several of whom will be returning from previous games in the series.

Koei-Tecmo stated that this latest game in the series is to be a celebration of the Atelier series 20th anniversary. Supposedly that's part of what gave rise Nelke's town-building mechanic, as it's a great reason to bring many of the series celebrated protagonists back in to the mix and have them work together. The publisher released also released a video a little while back that took a brief look at the history of Atelier. Check it out below.

For those that haven't yet played an Atelier game, take a moment and look at our reviews for the two most recent games in the series: Atelier Lydie & Suelle: Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings, and Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey. That should be enough to get started.
