So we learned about the existence of Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 recently, but not not much beyond that fact. Today, though, more info about the game was unveiled in the latest Nintendo Direct, along with a new trailer seen below. Aside from continuing Gunvolt's story after the first game and promising the same kind of 2D action as last time, the biggest news is that Gunvolt's rival Copen has now joined the fray as a playable character, bringing along his special ability to copy the abilities of any bosses that he defeats. Did we mention that developers Inti Creates had previously worked on some Mega Man games as well?

Slight snark aside, Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 looks like its shaping up to be an amazing sequel due out this Summer. As a bonus, the original Azure Striker Gunvolt will be available at a discount price of $9.99 in the Nintendo eShop until June 1, giving you three months to grab it and prepare yourself for the second round.
