If a lot of the imagery in Sonic Forces so far seems to have evoked a theme or rebellion in one way or another, even with just something like the logos, it turns out that there's a reason for that. In the new story trailer for the game, which you can check out below, it turns out that the game game begins with a scenario where Eggman actually ends up taking over the world thanks to the help of his new team (which includes the mysterious new character Infinite). So now it's time for the resistance to strike, with Sonic characters past and present facing off against each other (along with the rookie custom character you create).

The rest of the trailer tends to be composed of various scenes from the most recent demo of the game, nicely showcasing the different types of action that should make for another excellent platformer in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Sonic Forces is due out on November 7 for all major platforms, at which point la resistance will truly be able to strike back with your help.
