So today appears to be quite the big day for fans of retro twin-stick shooters. Alongside Serious Sam's Bogus Detour, Housemarque have now released their latest bit of old-school action, Nex Machina, complete with a launch trailer that you can check out below. As mentioned at the beginning of the clip, Nex Machina is a collaboration between Housemarque and Eugene Jarvis, designer of such arcade classics as Robotron: 2084 and Smash TV. And as you can see, Jarvis' touch is definitely more than present in this game.

Taking place in a future where machines have surpassed human intelligence and now feel they must eradicate mankind (seriously, do we ever get any good machines in these stories?), you'll get to blow everything away possible into tiny voxels in your journey to save humanity. With a ton of impressive weapons, massive hordes of enemies, gorgeous graphics, and various secrets to uncover, Nex Machina looks like it may be one of the year's best action games, and an amazing throwback to the classic days of quarter-munchers in more ways then one. We'll have a review of Nex Machina ready soon, but if you can't wait, you can pick it up right now for PC and PS4.
