The Sega Saturn may have been the king of 2D during its era, in particular its showcase 2.5D platformers like Clockwork Knight and Mr. Bones. The PlayStation held its own quite well, in fact one could argue that its library of such platformers have aged a lot better. Tomba! is one that comes to mind, but another real classic was Oddworld, with Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey and Oddworld: Abe's Exodus both being one of the defining highlights of the original PlayStation.

Oddworld would then jump ship to Microsoft and the Xbox platform, with Oddworld: Munch's Odyssey and the amazing Zelda-like adventure Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.  Since then, the series has returned home to Sony, with recent re-releases of the original PlayStation games as well as the once Xbox exclusives on the PlayStation Network.

However, a new game was certainly in order, and in this age of nostalgic remakes, it's no surprise that the debut game, Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey, is getting an all new next generation make over in the form of Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty. The game is set to arrive on the PlayStation Network and it will be playable on the PS4, PS3, and even Vita sometime in 2014. It's not only Sony devices though, as the PC and Wii U will be getting the game afterwards.

You can check out the very first gameplay trailer below to see the game in action. It looks rather impressive and it will be a great way to revisit this classic platfomer and the gameplay certainly has aged well enough to attract newcomers.
