Raven Software has launched Operation Shamrock and Awe, a new limited time event, alongside Operation Lion Strike in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.
Modern Warfare Remastered is getting its first themed event. Operation Shamrock and Awe will bring the luck of the Irish to the remaster, and plenty of new content with it. First off, players will get free themed Supply Drops each week until the end of the event at 12:01am PDT on April 3. You'll only get one a week, so be sure to check back every week for the drop.
Raven Software have also redone a classic map to make it more festive. Downpour, well known for its heavy rain and long sightlines, has become Daybreak. Playable only during Operation: Shamrock and Awe, Daybreak is a lush map filled with St. Patrick's Day decor and a rainbow. There will also be numerous challenges that will allow players to umlock new weapon camos, reticles, calling cards, themes, and emblems. Successfully completing three all themed collections will unlock Darren “Graves” Cosgrave as a playable character.
Launching alongside Shamrock and Awe is Operation Lion Strike, which adds a slew of new microtransaction-exclusive items to the game. Unfortunately, three new weapons have been locked behind the paywall. You'll have to have the luck of the Irish to unlock the D-255 sniper, PKM light-machine gun, and the Mac-10 SMG. So, it's cool that we have a themed event, but terrible that another three guns are being held behind behind bounty collections that rely heavily on Supply Drop luck.
