Earlier today, multiple gaming sites around the web were sporting ads for Blizzard's upcoming Overwatch, with a release date of 5/24/16. There were also rumors that an open beta was in the works. These had not yet been officially announced, but now Blizzard has come out with it.

The open beta will be available to players on all three platforms and will last from May 5-9 (May 3 if you pre-purchase Overwatch here).

The announcement also included information on the various versions of the game that will be available on the 24th. According to Blizzard, there will be a limited edition version of the game that comes with the disc, a visual sourcebook, the soundtrack and an Agent 76 statue all for $130. PC players can go the opposite route and get the $40 downloadable version of Overwatch that gets you the base game and nothing else. And finally there's the Origin Edition, which is available for all three platforms and gives players access to five skins for characters that relate to their backstory and lore.
