While we knew Nintendo was working with developers to bring their franchises to the mobile scene, and we wanted to believe they were going to bring arguably the best suited series, Pokémon, to the masses, it's only now it's finally happening. Sort of.

Nintendo announced today a new project called Pokémon GO for iOS and Android devices. Co-developed with Niantic, this marks the first official release of a Pokémon game in the mobile field. At least from the trailer released, this looks to focus on some sort of augmented reality feature that's tied to catching Pokémon, forcing user outside to actually search for them.

Pokémon GO will be made available sometime in 2016. There will also be an optional watch-esque accessory that pairs with your phone and works as an indicator when there's a Pokémon near you.
