QUByte Interactive on Tuesday announced that 99Vidas would be heading to Nintendo Switch this year.

The Brazilian-based studio and publisher says that the Switch version will have exclusive content, which includes two new levels, five different enemies, a new boss battle, new camera effects and new character skins.

The side-scrolling beat 'em up title is slated to launch on the Nintendo eShop at some point between Q2 and Q3 2018, QUByte confirmed in a press release.

99Vidas, which is developed in partnership with a Brazilian podcast of the same name, initially debuted on PC, macOS and Linux in 2016. Following QUByte’s successful crowdfunding campaign for 99Vidas, the title arrived on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3 in 2017.

99Vidas draws its inspiration from classic 1980s and 1990s beat 'em ups like Double Dragon, Final Fight, Golden Axe and Streets of Rage. It supports 16-bit retro visuals to “bring back the nostalgia of those great classics from the ‘80s and ‘90s.”

Supporting four-player local or online co-op, 99Vidas features eleven playable characters, a story mode consisting of six levels and an additional four bonus ones, versus mode and survival mode.

According to QUByte, 99Vidas is different from traditional beat 'em ups due to its two attack buttons: punch (fast, but weak) and kick (slow, but strong). The two-button combat system allows players to perform different combos.
