Way back in 2011, Rocksmith launched as a more serious alternative to Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Unlike those options, it allowed users to easily plug in their own real guitar to begin playing - and learn guitar in the process. The game continued to truck along with new song releases over the years.

Now Ubisoft has announced Rocksmith+. This still allows you to use your own guitar, but now you don't need to physically connect it to your system. You'll be able to use a mobile app which monitors your play. One key difference between the previous Rocksmith and Rocksmith+ is that Rocksmith+ is also a subscription service. Instead of buying your own songs, you'll just have access to a vast library of tracks.

Interested to try it for yourself? You can sign up for the PC beta today and it runs from June 12 through July 22.
