Monolith Productions and Warner Bros. have confirmed that the ancient spider Shelob will be in Middle-Earth: Shadow of War.

San Diego Comic-Con is well underway, and Monolith and Warner Bros. revealed a brand new trailer for Middle-Earth: Shadow of War. The trailer focuses on Shelob, a giant spider and spawn of Ungoliant. Those who've seen The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King or read The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers will immediately recognize Shelob as the spider that stung Frodo, and then got beaten by Sam. Well, she really isn't a spider in Shadow of War.

The Middle-Earth games have continuously played fast and loose with Tolkien's material, but this goes pretty far down the rabbit's hole. Shelob, in Shadow of War, can transform into a human. On top of this, apparently she's now a seer capable of showing Talion glimpses of the future. She will appear in her spider form during the game, and it appears like she'll steal Talion and Celebrimbor's Ring of Power during the course of the game.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is out October 10 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
