Earlier today, UK retailer GAME seemed to accidentally reveal the existence of a Shovel Knight amiibo. Although that tweet was swiftly deleted, the packaging looked legitimate and the fact that Shovel Knight will be released physically later this year seemed to suggest that it was the real deal. Thankfully we didn't have to wait long for the confirmation, as Nintendo has just revealed at their Nindies@Night event in Seattle that the Shovel Knight amiibo is real and will be coming out later this year.
Not only is the amiibo inherently awesome, but tapping it to the Wii U GamePad will unlock two player co-op, while 3DS players will get new relics. The amiibo will unlock exclusive challenge stages and customizable gear on both platforms.
