Marvel Entertainment and Square Enix have entered a multi-year, multi-game partnership, and have announced the first game to come out of this new partnership.

Marvel Entertainment is working with numerous different publishers to bring their superheroes to life. Capcom is developing Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, and Sony is working on Spider-Man. Now, we have a new publisher being added to the mix, Square Enix.

Taking to Twitter, the Japanese publisher revealed that they are working with Marvel to release a slate of games based on Marvel's superheroes. The first of these games will be The Avengers project, which will be developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal.

Not much is known about The Avengers project other than it will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments fans love. We also know that it will be an original story, and that it will set up a universe gamers can play in for many years. It almost sounds like Marvel and Square Enix are setting up their own Marvel Game Universe.

Don't expect to see many details on The Avengers project in 2017. Square Enix won't be releasing new details about this game and other Marvel projects until 2018.
