It's hard to say why there aren't more notable mountain biking games.  The sport is relatively simple on the face of it and perfect for adaptation to gaming, but other than the old PS2 Downhill Domination (which is much closer to Wipeout than actual mountain biking) there's not much to choose from.  Grab a bike and race like mad while pulling off stunts as the mood strikes you, flying through thin wooded trails and past cliffs in the great outdoors seems like a no-brainer.  Descenders is the next attempt to bring this to gaming, and it's just about the perfect project for the developers of Action Henk to tackle.

At the start you choose a team from among three play styles.  Enemy is the stunt team, racking up tricks off every bit of air they can grab.  Arboreal knows there's a track and doesn't care as they look for the fastest time by taking as straight a line as possible from start to finish, and Kinetic is all about speed.  The social aspects of Descenders are based on the team you choose, with your glory adding to the team's overall stature.  Or you can ignore all that and choose a play style that makes you happy to blaze through as many procedurally generated courses as your heart desires.  It's your call, but the woods, mountains, and canyons of the outdoors are covered in tracks just begging to be explored at top velocity, and whether you do it as part of a team or for your own entertainment it's always a beautiful day to tackle the trails.
