Romania-based developers Sand Sailor Studio have been quietly hard at work putting the final touches on what may be one of the most aesthetically-palpable titles releasing this year. Black The Fall looks to follow in Inside's (Playdead's 2016 follow-up to their previously-acclaimed debut Limbo) stead by offering a bleak, oppressive but effective backdrop for the totalitarian-controlled setting, against its core physics-based platforming -- itself throwing up a few perils and indeed challenge in the gameplay department.

Though news has been sparse on the title -- which will be published by Square Enix Collective -- we do at long last have a release date for the game and it's July 11. "We really wanted to use the puzzle genre to depict the kind of communism that dominated Eastern Europe in the decades after World War II..." Cristian Diaconescu, Creative Director at Sand Sailor Studio, explains. "...players [will] have to make use of the kind of tactics people who survived that era mastered -- manipulation and stealth -- but this approach also bleeds into the melancholic atmosphere, rendered solely through image and sound."

Black The Fall will be available on PS4, Xbox One & PC. Check out the latest trailer coinciding with today's announcement below.
