Bungie is giving us a taste of what to expect from Destiny: The Taken King's new multiplayer modes. Starting September 8, when Update 2.0 goes live, players can take part in the Crucible Preview Event.

The Curcible Preview Event lets all players, regardless of whether or not you've already pre-ordered The Taken King. All eight brand new maps will be playable during the week, alongside two new multiplayer modes. Rift is Destiny's take on Capture the Flag where Guardians must capture a light spark and deliver it to the enemy's goal. Mayhem is utter chaos by decreasing Super recovery and letting Guardians unleash their powers. Bungie does note that Guardians will not have their new subclasses during the Preview Event. We'll have to wait until The Taken King launches to try those out.

Destiny: The Taken King is out September 15 on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360. In addition to the new modes and multiplayer maps, The Taken King adds a brand new campaign, destination, weapons, gear, raid, and several gameplay enhancements. The King's Fall raid will launch September 18, three days after The Taken King launches.
