In a trailer released today, NCSOFT announced that their MMORPG, WildStar, will be free-to-play starting this fall.

"Since launch we’ve listened to all of your feedback and worked hard to improve your game experience. Part of that goal has always been to bring more players in to experience WildStar, and that's what Free-to-Play is all about," the WildStar team announced on the blog post concerning the announcement.

Players will be able to sign up for an account and play to maximum level without paying a monthly subscription, with "completely optional in-game purchases that cover a wide range of player services, convenience options, and cosmetic offerings," being available to anyone willing to fork over some cash.

In addition to optional cosmetics, NCSOFT will offer signature subscriptions, which include increased XP, gold, and reputation gains, extra character slots, more auction house acces, and more.

Players who have had a recurring subscription since WildStar initially launched back in June, 2013, will receive an "exclusive Ikthian Crawler mount, an exclusive DJ Caretaker housing décor item, a Disco Snoglug companion pet, a new housing music track, four months of Signature service, and two new titles: 'Living Legend' and 'Nexus Loyalist'" on the day the game switches to the free-to-play model.

Current subscribers who haven't been around since launch but maintain their subscription will receive the DJ Caretaker housing décor item, the Disco Snoglug companion pet, the new housing music track, four months of Signature service, and the "Nexus Loyalist" title when the switch occurs.
